Portsmouth- A taste of Colonial New England

by chaistarr - last update: Mar 15, 2004

PORTSMOUTH was first inhabited by Europeans in the early 1600's. The town was called "Strawberry Banke". Many older buldings exist today in the downtown harborside area as well as the outerlying areas.

The town has probably about 30,000 people and is easily accesible but it retains a small town feel even though its a tourist destination.

Weather is a bit chilly in winter, warm in summer. There are neat shops and delicious restaurants as well as histroical sighs and parks.
