Well, SORT of been there...We landed here on the way back from Somalia. As they wouldn't allow us off the plane, it had to suffice for us to see it through the windows. The most memorable (indeed, ONLY) memory is of a couple of guys on the tarmac beating on each other as they fought for some reason underneath an AEROFLOT plane. Would have been nice to have a picture of that...
Not a long stay...just long enough to fuel up at a "real," functioning airport, as the one we just left (Kismayu, Somalia) was FAR from that. Took off as soon as we were done, and headed off to Egypt.
I've added a couple of pictures that I found online...My camera battery died about a month into our time in Somalia, and I didn't have a backup. After learning that lesson, I've never left home without at least 2 cameras, and multiple sets of batteries. Definitely a sad lesson to learn...
