Hagar Qim

Hagar Qim & Mnajdra

That archaeological site is 1000 years older than the pyramids. Those two temples were used by a fertility worshipping religion and – shock, gasp – orgies were often thought to be performed there in ancient times.

The Blue Grotto

Malta is blessed with some of the clearest water you will be able to find anywhere in Europe. It’s a dream destination for water rats and amateur divers. Nowhere does that appear more obvious than near the Blue Grotto at Wied iz Zurrieq (close to the archaeological sites of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra) where the water is often 20m deep, yet you still can easily see the bottom of it. The water’s different shades of blue are simply amazing. There are scores of boats around to take you for a 20-minute trip around the caves.

Visit some of the archaeological sites....

… like the Tarxien Temples or Hagar Qim. Malta has quite a few of those, often older than the Pyramids themselves. Some tour operators offer bus tours that cover several of them in the day.
