I must admit that until very shortly before my trip to Malta, the thought of visiting this Mediterranean island hardly ever crossed my mind. Once there, however, it became one of my most memorable holiday experiences.

Though very small, Malta still manages to have something for everyone: If you’re into history, visit some of their archaeological sites or learn about the Knights of Malta. If you’re into water sports, learn how to dive, go speed boating or just sizzle in the sun to get some tan. If you like nothing more than a good few drinks at night, stay in or around St Julian’s and party the night away. Or better yet: Do a little bit of all of that and enjoy your stay every which way you can.

Temperatures are great pretty much all year round, and even in the wintertime, it barely gets any lower than 7C. In the middle of summer it may even be too hot for some people’s tastes, so you may be better off coming shortly before or after the high season. We went in September and didn’t regret it.

The only question remaining for us is: When will we return next?

Please don't forget to also check out my other Malta related pages on Valletta, Marsaxlokk and Mdina.

Malta ist klasse, war schon 3 mal dort! Ganz so "hidden" fand ich es allerdings nicht...die haben doch mehr Touris als Einwohner!!

Fantastic page, Holger, and very funny. Do you think we should invite the Maltese bus company to set up a business in Ireland?
