Rome is an El Dorado for history and art lovers like myself. I am very well aware that much has already been written about some of their most famous landmarks (Coliseum, Trevi Fountain etc), but I still hope that I managed to share some helpful info here that you may also find useful.
One of THE biggest attractions for me - The Vatican - will eventually be covered in some separate VT pages.
- Pros:So rich in history, you'll need more than just one visit
- Cons:Very filthy in places
- In a nutshell:They don't call it the Eternal City for nothing!

Some very interesting points mentioned in your tips.
Excellente. Complimente.
rubbish in the streets of Rome, how sad. I noticed the same thing in Venice, after eating an icecream we where looking for a waste-basket,while the guy we bought the ice from through paper on the floor!!
Great pages Holger. I'm sure I will get to Rome one of these days?
well presented.....Rome a little different, Goethe was here too ^..^ the Colloseum pic is fantastic, great angle. thanx for sharing Holger
Great page with lots of useful tips - esp the one about the bar charges :-) And somehow I think an Irish pub called "The Black Duke" would not really make a roaring business over here...
You weren't impressed by the Colosseum? I thought it was the most fascinating example of civil engineering. But well, I wasn't very impressed with Fontana Trevi. To each his own, I suppose :-)
