The Brouwerij t' IJ is a brewery producing Trapisten style beers in an old windmill. It's on Funenkade 7 and is out of the centre, but you can use tram numbers 6 or 10. Opening hours are limited (guidebooks say Wednesday to Sunday 3-8pm) so it's worth phoning them first on 6228325. In good weather you can sit outside by the canal. We went in a thunderstorm but with beer at strengths of up to around 9% by volume it didn't take long to feel cosy and welcome. Take it steady if you plan to do much afterwards!.

ronaldbarr Sun Apr 24, 2005 10:56 UTC I completely agree with your comments about The Night Watch. It is a marvellous piece, beautifully presented. I found being close to it was mesmeric. Greetings from Ireland | Pavlik_NL Tue Aug 10, 2004 13:58 UTC Good page about our nation's capitol. Like your tips very much. Good pics as well. You're doing a great job. Thanks and greetings from NL, Paul | Orkaena Sun Jul 25, 2004 16:11 UTC Well, your tips are accurate and useful, and I agree absolutely with your point of view, Amsterdam is not for whom is looking for calm days ;-) | Pounder73 Sat Jun 14, 2003 21:35 UTC Kobe beef - yum...but not too cheap. i also heard the subject the cows to clasical music. |
