Eat & Drink like the locals: Try the Fresh Spring Rolls!!
  • Tip Rating:

  • I tried to avoid the larger restaurants and ate most of my meals at vendors or open-air stalls. In Vietnam, food is everywhere! No matter where you stand in Vietnam, there is food within a stone throw away.....just be on the lookout for the word 'Pho' which is the Vietnamese main dish, noodle soup.

Eat & Drink like the locals: Another Cup Please
  • Tip Rating:

  • You may not know it, but Vietnam is now the second largest coffee producer in the world. Unfortunately, much of it is a very low quality but you can find some very good high quality coffees. Visit one of the many shops where you can taste the coffees before buying.
Roasted and brewed, the beans produce a smooth, strong drink.
Make sure you sip it slowly. The wait is worth it, particularly if you are nibbling a Vietnamese pastry. Vietnamese coffee is also served over ice and is deliciously refreshing on a hot day.

  • Ever wanted to try a few Asian delicacies since you are in South East Asia? Well, the Vietnamese are renowned for their tasteful yet unpleasant source of food including snake, rats, frogs, dog, etc. Feeding 80 million mouths is indeed not an easy task therefore finding rare and exotic foods come without difficulty.

  • Ngon in Vietnamese translates to 'delicious' and this restaurants lives up to its name! I guarantee patrons will not be disappointed with the variety of items on their menu. Prices are very reasonable with a great outdoor-indoor eating experience. I've almost always patronize with a local friend so i'm not entirely sure as to whether or not the servers speak English but they do however have English on the menus. My absolute fave...

    Pacific Beer: Pacific Beer
  • Tip Rating:

  • A very unknown place to tourists but very popular with locals because a glass of draft beer costs only 3000 dong or 20 cents. 3 glasses is more than enough to do me in so that's 60 cents in total!! The menu items are also worth checking out. Other than being inexpensive, it's traditional Vietnamese cooking at its best!

Favorite Dish: Bo Lok Lap - I know I spelt it wrong but I always order this dish when I eat here. It contains medium rare diced beef with a side order of French fries. Yum!

I don't know the exact location but I do know it is within District one near the Notre Dame cathedral on Le Thanh Ton.

    Ciao Cafe: Ciao Cafe
  • Tip Rating:

  • My favorite lunch destination. A simple little deli looking restaurant that serves good western style sandwiches and Italian style pasta! What keeps me coming back is the addictive iced coffee they serve. They also carry a variety of soft/hard ice cream.
