You cannot come to Cambodia without knowing her history. To do this would be ignorant and disrespectful, in my opinion. The Cambodians have suffered an immense amount of pain and the remnants of the Khmer Rouge linger even to this day. |
| | The Khmer Rouge Phnom Penh is the most wealthiest and populous city in Cambodia. It was once known as the “Pearl of the Orient”.
With a population of 3 million, the Khmer Rouge left their mark by holding the entire country back with mass killings of Cambodia’s intellectual class. The city is rundown with many streets that remain unpaved and obvious poverty runs rampant throughout the capital. |
| | The Future Phnom Penh, as is the rest of Cambodia, is at peace with the world. I felt a strong feeling of sadness as history overtook my idea of enjoying this beautiful country filled with a vibrant culture and friendly people.
I instantly felt an attraction to this city when I first step foot in it. I fell in love this city and its amazingly friendly citizens. I will most definitely be back. |
