We almost missed MIrabell Garden, as you have to walk through a passageway to get to part of it. The garden was used in the Sound of Music - remember the steps where the children danced up and down singing do-re mi....

Here are those do-re-mi steps... I looked for the pavilion where the strangely old-for-her-age-looking Lisl met the strangely-young-looking Ralf, but couldn't find it anywhere!

Riverside walks in any city are usually pretty, and Salzburg is no exception. We visited on a bit of a miserable, grey day, but the view was still nice.

The Christmas Markets in Salzburg are amazing, but very expensive. There are about 5 markets in total, selling toys, handmade toys, clothes, sweets, hundreds of christmas decorations and creche scenes, breads and cakes, gluhwein, candles, ornaments and books, among other things! Despite the expense, you will want to buy things, but look around first. You can often find similar things in the shops for a fraction cheaper. The stalls will definitely put you in a christmas mood, and it is worth going to Salzburg in December just to see them.
