I LOVE Rome, it is my absolute favourite city. Maybe I'll put it on the agenda again for later this year. Or maybe I should at least try to visit a few other places in Italy!

I love the winding streets, I love turning a corner and suddenly having the view of the Vatican, I love gelati, I love the Spanish Steps, I love the pizzeria version of Macdonalds especially! I also love the tiny little buses that you see all over the place, hilarious. And the monstrosity of the monument to Vittorio Emanuelle. I love the little hotel we stayed in too - they brought us breakfast in bed because they didnt have a dining room, fab!

Rome!

This pic is from summer 2000, when I took part in a Lions Youth Camp in Savona - we also spent a weekend in Rome and were lucky enough to see the view from the top of the FAO building.... Unfortunately in this photo, we are slightly obscuring that view!

However, I was taken back to Rome for a weekend in December '03 as a birthday present, and I was able to see everything again, but in my own time rather than with the group.

To get to Rome from London, I would recommend the way that we did it: Ryanair from Stansted to Rome Ciampino cost us £16 each, then a return coach from Ciampino to the main train station in Rome cost 10 euros, and took about 45 minutes or so. Most of the cheaper hotels are near the station so this works very well.
