Summer is finally coming and with it lots of events in and around the city. Here are my favourites:
June 12 - Arena of Sound Large FREE open air concert at the Schlossplatz with various artists, more on www.swr3.de
July 8-18 Fischmarket on Karlsplatz
July 10th Lichterfest on Killesberg
Aug 5-8 Summerfest, Schlossplatz and Schlossgarden
Aug 25 - Sep 9 Weindorf (Winefest) Schillerplatz and Rathausplatz
The 159th Oktober Beer Fest is from Sept. 25th to Oct. 10th
In my opinion a lot better than the one in Munich because it's not half as touristy!!
Outside of Stuttgart:
June 18-20 Sindelfingen Strassenfest July 30 - Aug 9 Esslinger Zwiebelfest |
| Schillerplatz and Stiftskirche |
| | Christmas market This year the Christmas market in Stuttgart starts on November 26th and lasts until December 23rd. It's said to be one of the largest in Europe and people come from all over to visit it. This year Stuttgart Marketing has a special offer for visitors. Starting at 80 Euro you get a hotel room with breakfast, dinner and vouchers for the market. More info here: http://www.stuttgart-tourist.de/deutsch/pangebote/angebot.cgi?id=25&kath=3 |
| | To me Stuttgart is a very beautiful city. It's very green with lots of parks and I think the nightlife is pretty good to although people often talk of it as being provincial which it probably is next to bigger cities like Berlin, Frankfurt or Hamburg. One of the great things about this so called provinciality is that it's one of the safest big cities Germany. There are lots of fests all year round starting with the Spring Volksfest in April and ending with the Christmas Market in December. My favourite fest is actually the Stuttgart Weindorf (winefest) which annually goes on for two weeks in August/September. But there are also many other things to see in and around Stuttgart. the famous Zoo and botanical garden Wilhelma, Castles, the Black Forest, Kloster Maulbronn (on the UNESCO worlld heritage list), the university city of Tübingen and lots more.
Here is a short list of the most important upcoming festivities in Stuttgart. You can find a complete list on www.stuttgart-tourist.de
- 3.07- 13.07 Hamburger Fischmarkt We have a partnership with Hamburg every year in July the Fischmarket is exported from Hamburg viceversa the Stuttgart Winefest takes place annually in Hamburg. Great fish, Jever beer and those funny screaming sellers trying to get you to buy plants, noodles and whatever
- 7.08- 10.08. Stuttgart Sommerfest Concerts and places all over the Schlossplatz and the Schlossgarden. This is a bit of a fancy fest, people dress up and food and drink are quite expensive. But still a lovely fest.
- 27.08-27.09 Weindorf This is something for winelovers, from the Schillerplatz to the Marktplatz there are numerous places to taste the local wines and food.
- Cannstatter Wasen (Beerfest) 27.09-12.10 |
