My trip to Venice somehow left me with mixed feelings. No doubt it's a beautiful city and surely worth a visit, but it didn't catch me like Rome, Florence and other italian cities. I think the main reason is that I felt 100 % like a tourist, something I've never experienced before in Italy. Just everyone there seems to be either a tourist or working for the tourist business. And everything was so expensive, eating, shopping and even public transport. Prices for clothes were about double from Rome where I went 2 weeks earlier, I'm glad I did my shopping there :-))
Maybe I should go there again at some other time of year and not at the beginning of Carnival, I don't even want to think about the crowds on the main Carnival weekend. Someone told me that they make the streets "one way" to handle the crowds. |
