Restaurant Name: Katz Deli
If you saw the movie "When Harry Met Sally", you might remember that scene in the diner. This is the diner! They have a strange system of ordering based on tickets which completly confused me. The food is reasonable though a bit over-priced. There are better and cheaper delis.

I drank so many coffees in this place that I should really be given shares here. It's a cafe owned by NYU, and, in fairness, the coffee and food here was excellent. Though I came here almost every day the guys were never too friendly (and it's not just me!!) - though I did feel like one of the regulars here as after a while they just knew what I would order and have it ready without asking!

My brother worked here, so I went for a meal once. It's a very expensive/posh restaurant on the Upper East Side. He served the likes of Meg Ryan & Woody Allen so I guess it's a fairly upmarket place. The outdoor terrace gives a great view of 5th Avenue & the Met.
Favorite Dish: The cheese plate was all I could afford - it cost 18 dollars.

This is a great coffee house in the heart of Times Square. The sign in the window might be a bit ambitious, but they served the best coffee I had in New York.

Restaurant Name: Heidelberg
I took a German class at NYU and at the end of each semester we went out for an authentic German meal. The choices were limited as German restaurants are sparse in NY. We went to Zum Schneider in the East Village at the end of first term - more of a pub than a restaurant - and second time round to the Heidelberg on the Upper East Side. The Heidelberg was very classy and quite expensive, while Zum Schneider was cheap and fun - I'd recommend them both.
