Zakopane is a popular destination all year round. In winter it's a great ski destination while in summer it attracts hikers and climbers to the nearby High Tatras. We spent a few days here before moving onto Slovakia. We had a great day hiking in the Tatras and a nice evening recovering from our exhausting hike in the bars and restaurants of the town.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Proximity to the Tatras, plenty of nice bars and restaurants
Cons:A little bit too touristy

Great, very usuful tips with personal touch. Fantastic pictures (incl. these hidden ones) of the mountains. City of Zakopane is definetely too touristy but the Tatras are fantastic! Bad you caught foggy weather, good that only partly.

Nice start. It seems that you quite enjoyed your trip to Zakopane. I agree that Krupowki is a bit touristy, but I still love it.
