Prague in November | Prague Castle from the river |
My first visit to Prague was in November 2005 on a short 3 day trip. This gave us just enough time to see the main sights of what is without doubt one of Europe's most beautiful cities.
I've heard from many people that Prague is not what it was ten years ago, that it has become westernised too fast and that it's a difficult place to enjoy with all the tourists. Sure, there are stag parties (there was even one on our plane) and there are way too many "English" and "Irish" pubs in the city and you could probably spend a whole weekend in the city and hear only English voices.
But like any great city, Prague can absorb all this and still remain a great place to visit. There are so many beautiful buildings, streets and monuments here that it'll just win you over. And despite all the tourists it's not at all an expensive destination. Hotels and restaurants are good value, as are tourist sights and museums and you can drink some of the finest beers in the world here for next to nothing. The most expensive beer I had during our visit was 50 Koruny (about one pound sterling and that was at the opera). |

Glad you stopped by my El Salvador page ...I think you'll enjoy it when you go. | Ewingjr98 Sun Jan 21, 2007 03:14 UTC I too visited Prague in winter--just a few months after you--and it was bitterly cold. We even had a water main break at our hotel, so no showers. Great page...& thanks for stopping by my Kilkenny page. Now that's a great little town! | ChrisnJan Thu Oct 19, 2006 22:40 UTC Hi Barry, I diddn't realise how much I'd missed in Prague. Fortunately I'm going back next March and I will be able to put some of your tips to good use. I can almost taste the beer in The Golden Tiger now. Chris |
