I first visited Annecy as long ago as 1988. On a family trip to France for 2 weeks, we made Annecy our base for much of the holiday. It certainly made an impression on me as I could remember it years later much more so than other childhood holiday destinations.
My next visit was 12 years later, when we stopped for a day on our interrail trip around France.
Annecy is about 3 hours from Lyon by train and is located near the Swiss border. The one thing that struck me arriving here was the freshness of the air - I certainly had been living in big cities for too long. Aside from Paris, Annecy is my favourite French town. I'd really like to live here one day. |
