Restaurant des Cedres and other Azrou, Morocco Restaurant Reviews

There aren’t too many restaurants in Azrou and as it had started raining heavily by dinner time we didn’t want to spend too long searching for somewhere to eat. It was a choice between the restaurant in our hotel and the one next door and we chose our hotel as the menu sounded nicer. There were a couple of menus on offer though, strangely, you could order the same dishes a la carte for a lesser price.

We were the only guests in the hotel and the only diners in the restaurant. However, the food was excellent and we both enjoyed our meal. We started with a delicious vegetable soup followed by beef brochettes for me and trout, which Azrou is renowned for, for Ruth. These were accompanied by green beans and potatoes, and we were kept well supplied with bread by our friendly water. Alcohol wasn’t served but this suited us fine. We had mint tea for dessert and the bill came to 145 Dh.

Patisserie Azrou is a nice cafe near the mosque in the centre of Azrou. Inside it's a typical dark, smoky, cafe, with mostly male customers watching Spanish football but it‘s more friendly on the terrace or upstairs. We had breakfast here one morning and we stopped by for a coffee a couple of times as well. Overall, it’s a good value cafe with friendly waiters in a nice location.
