After the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, Essaouira was like a breath of fresh air. We only had a day and a half here, not near sufficient time to see it all, but enough to see why it's one of the most popular destinations in Morocco.
For the first time on our trip we saw a bit off sun, but it was tempered somewhat by the strong winds here. Hence Essaouira's reputation as a great spot for wind-surfing and kite-surfing.
Being home to only 45,000 people, there is a laid-back, relaxed air to the place. That's not to say there is little to do. Whatever your interest - history, shopping or just taking a break from Marrakech - most visitors seem to love Essaouira. We were no different... |
