Source Bleue de Meski is a natural spring water pool fed by springs from the Meski palmerie. Meski lies 17km south of Er-Rahidia, and is close to the beginning of the Tafilalt region. This place is certainly on the beaten path and a small tourist industry has grown up around the Source Bleue. While the number of shops and amenities here might be off putting for some, it doesn't detract from either the beauty of the lake or the scenic natural surroundings.
We tried to follow a very poorly described hike from our guidebook but we gave up as the path south of the river was so overgrown. So instead we made up our own hike. We could see Meski Kasbah in the distance, which looked spectacular and imposing on top of the ridge, and as it didn’t look too far away we decided to aim for there. We had no map, no compass and no idea if the path went all the way to the Kasbah. But we made it there in the end and it was well worth the effort as we got to explore the ruined Kasbah and were rewarded with gorgeous views over the Meski Valley. |
