After two fantastic weeks in Buenos Aires, we left Argentina for Uruguay, and moved across the Rio de la Plata to Colonia del Sacramento, a relaxing and beautiful town, whose Barrio Historico, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracts tourists in big numbers.
Apart from its obvious beauty, what struck us most about Colonia was the pace of life - it seemed so much slower than Buenos Aires. It´s a fantastic place to unwind for a couple of days and is easily accessible from Buenos Aires. Many people visit Colonia on day trips from Buenos Aires, but two or three days is much better if you can spare the time. |
