As dusk falls, the Champs Elysees is ablaze with light from the constant traffic - white lights on the left, red on the right and the glow of streetlights on both sides - it's spectacular.

Beneath the Arc De Triomphe lies the tomb of an unknown French soldier from World War One. The eternal flame is a memorial to all the dead from this war.

Walk along the Seine by day and especially at night. I recommend starting at the Pont de Sully, where this photo was taken, and walking all the way to the Eiffel Tower at the Pont d'Iena.

There are brasseries and coffee bars on practically every street in Paris. Les Deux Magots is a famous and very pricey coffee shop on the Boulevard St. Germain. Apparently Sartre and De Beauvoir used to drink here and talk Philosophy. Talk then was obviously a lot cheaper as it now costs 30 francs for an espresso.

If you've crossed the Pont Neuf recently, you've surely seen this guy. He stands there for hours at a time in this costume. I can't imagine how he does it on those hot summer days. If you see him, be sure to give a few Euros.

Possibly the most famous avenue in the world, Les Champs-Elysees is a tree-lined avenue stretching from Place De La Concorde to the Arc De Triomphe. I love those wide pavements and the view of the Arc De Triomphe as you get closer. The nicest part of the Avenue is at the Eastern end near the Place De La Concorde, awayfrom the shops, where water fountains, trees and benches can be found.

You'll either love or hate one of Paris's most famous modern buildings. The Pompidou centre is like a building turned inside out: elevators, pipes, and much of what normally comprises a building's interior are all visible on the outside. While this does free up space on the inside, the effect is rather startling. The Pompidou Centre is a museum and exhibition centre, yet many of its visitors come just to see the building itself.

An architectural masterpiece, Notre-Dame is one of Paris's oldest and most famous buildings. It's on Isle de la Cite, the island from where Paris grew into the city it is today.

Twelve of Paris's busiest avenues converge on one place - Etoile (French for star) - where the lovely Arc de Triomphe is found. There are great views of all the avenues and of Paris from the top of the Arc.

11dana Mon May 18, 2009 18:42 UTC nice red sand on your pic from Morocco | frenchlondon Wed Dec 12, 2007 00:27 UTC Great pages. Your love for this city is obvious. We all have a very special we like to go back to every so often. I love the 'drunk' picture with 4 Eiffel towers in the back ground! | leecouk12324 Fri Aug 17, 2007 13:52 UTC Great to see you can keep going back to the same City and finding different things to do - i did the same with Amsterdam - but last time also got away from City - went Beach - did some Sumo wrestling. Off the beaten track! | nixca316 Mon Feb 26, 2007 15:37 UTC Oui, j'espère que je puisse me retourner là-bas cet été de Philippine ou print temps européen. Merci beaucoup, mon ami! =) |
