ANGEL CAFE: Good traditional food

Restaurant Name: ANGEL CAFE
When movie crews shoot period pieces in Prague, they tend to start the day at Angel Café, in the Národní Trída area, noshing on the homemade doughnuts and lemon bread that are the specialities of owners Sofia Aziz and Matthew Smith. They usually stick around for the brunch of cheese buttermilk biscuits with sage and onion sausages and crispy prosciutto, or return for lunch or dinner. Somehow, the fresh, airy space manages to be bright (but not overlit) on even the greyest days. Open from 10am.

BELLA NAPOLI: Taste of Italy in Prague

|
Restaurant Name: BELLA NAPOLI
The decor may be a little much, but the food is genuine and the price-to-quality ratio hard to beat. Close your eyes to the alabaster Venus de Milos astride shopping-mall fountains and head straight for the antipasto bar, which will distract you with fresh olives, eggplant, squid, and mozzarella. For your main course, go with any of a dozen superb pasta dishes or splurge with shrimp or chicken parmigiana. No credit cards
