  • In 1897 a local millionaire Cheah Chen Eok who loved this Penang city so much decided to present something memorable. On the occasion of celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria he presented a 20 yards high Clock Tower.

    It is the centre of Chinese people who migrated here in early eighteenth century.

    Burmese Temple (Dhammikarama): Burmese Temple

  • Dharmikarama Burmese Temple was found in 1803. It was known as Nandy Molah Burmese Temple. There is a pair of elephants at the main entrance of temple, which are called the guards of temple.

    Burmese Temple (Dhammikarama): Dharmikarama Burmese Temple
  • Tip Rating:
  • The temple has a Main Shrine Hall, Sima Hall, Dinning Hall, Monks Quarters, Preceptors Lodge, Sunday school, Library and a Lecture Hall. There is also wish well in the middle of the temple which is one of the oldest temple in Penang and still in use.

    Burmese Temple (Dhammikarama): Dharmikarama Burmese Temple

  • Burmese Temple is has different sections where you could experience very impressive time. apart from those pair of elephants guarding the entrance to this Burmese temple there is a pagoda, a Boddhi tree and a wishing pond. It is the scene of many festivities during the water festival in April.

    Penang Museum and Art Gallery was established in 1821 and has different rooms for all the different cultural people living in Penang. It also tells you the story of how different people migrated to Penang. Photography is not allowed inside Museum.
