Honolulu Things to Do Tips by Vivisector

Called 'The store of Hawaii'. They have a free trolley that will pick you up in Waikiki and take you down to their main store. Upon arrival they give you a free Shell Lei. Here you can see a working sweatshop, where you can watch them hand sew shirts, dresses etc. Prices are a bit on the high side, but they give you coupons after purchase to hit other activities on island at half price. Could easily save you 10's to 100's of dollars. We didn't hit Hilo Hattie's until our second last day, and kicked ourselves for not going sooner, as we had recieved coupons that could have saved us a fortune.

Directions: Take free trolley service, can catch from almost anywhere in Waikiki

Great to see for historical reasons. Price is free to go in and to watch the video about the bombing, and to take the boat out to the memorial and look down to see the Arizona sitting in it's resting place. Only problem, you can no longer take in any bags including purses and camera cases since Sept. 11th. We were prepared, but seen manypeople take the money out of their purses and leave them on the lawn outside the main building.

I am putting this on my list for good and bad reasons. It is a great place to visit, and has many nice shops to visit. They have a tower which you could go up and have a great view from the top. This is now closed as of Sept. 11, and not sure when/if they plan on opening it up to the public again.

Great place to see. 'free' entry, you can check out what pineapple plants look like. And they have demonstrations on the proper way to cut pineapple, etc. You can also visit the worlds largest maze, which is onsite. Cost there is around $6. The only warning I have for this place is to not buy anything as everything is overpriced.

There are 7 different 'Islands' you can visit, each showing a different culture, dancing, games, etc of that island. After that you can eat at the buffet or hit the Luau, followed by the main attraction at night, a 1.5 hr performance featuring fire dancers, hula dancers and more. A must see.

Directions: North-Eastern part of Island, best to get there via tour as bus trip takes over 2 hrs from Waikiki, and bus hard to return back from if you stay until end of final show.

Beautiful beach, and great snorkling/scuba diving along coral reef. You are sure to see hundreds of fish swimming along the reef. Cost $3 to get into park. Closed every Tuesday to give fish a break from visitors. One warning, placed is heavily populated and no food/drink is available along beach.
