The harshness of the Alaskan winter is tempered by the stark beauty of the scenery and the warmth of the people that live there. The days are short, but the sunsets are spectacular, the Northern Lights can come out at night, and there is less danger of bears if you are south of polar bear territory. Hotels are much cheaper in the winter too. |
