We are the largest county in the state and have no state parks, however we have the following 12 parks located through out Sweetwater County:
Pioneer Trails Picnic Grounds located about 20 miles north of Green River off Highway 372 North (La Barge Road) is a 52 acre park with 3 group picnic shelters, 20 picnic tables, 3 restrooms, playground equipment, nature trails, 3 volleyball courts, and horseshoe pitches.
Sweetwater County Picnic Grounds located ½ mile off highway 374; 5 miles west of the City of Green River With 4 group picnic shelters, 35 tables, 2 restrooms, playground equipment, 13 horse pitches, youth fishing pond, boat ramp (rafts & small watercraft only), 1 volleyball court, 1 softball field, 1 basketball court and 2 tennis courts. The Board is in the process of replacing pumps that went out this last year here.
Sweetwater County Shooting Sports Complex located on Little Firehole Road off Highway 191 South with 1 500 yard and 2 200 yard shooting lanes with 7 shooting benches and target stands. With an expanded parking area thanks to County Road & Bridge folks and carts for folks to take their things onto the range. Opens in mid-April and closes in Late October or early November with a Range Officer (weather permitting)
Sweetwater County Archery Range on little Firehole Road off highway 191 South with Archery target shooting, temporary restrooms, and indoor classroom. Fire Hole Archers hold State meets here.
Crossroads West Park is 1½ miles west of Rock Springs on the White Mountain Road off Foothill Blvd. With 1 group picnic shelter with restrooms & play ground equipment close by, 2 softball and 2 soccer fields with temporary restrooms and 3 horseshoe pitches
Trap Club located across White Mountain Road from Crossroads West Park. Trap Shooting, indoor meeting room with kitchen and restrooms. Public shooting hours are Sundays 12 to 400pm & Wednesdays from 600pm till?? Weather permitting. Sweetwater County Trap Club meets here also for information about meeting times please call 362-4908.
Mesa Park on Quadrant Drive off Yellowstone Road North of Rock Springs, with Playground equipment, 3 horseshoe pitches, basketball courts, volleyball court and temporary restrooms.
Reliance Park located 5 miles north of Rock Springs behind Reliance School, 3 shelters, 2 restrooms, playground equipment, 4 horseshoe pitches, 1 softball field and 2 tennis courts.
Arrowhead Springs Park on Highway 430, South of Rock Springs, turn west on county road 427 at SF Phosphate Plant, 4 miles to Arrowhead turn-off then 1 mile through subdivision, 2 picnic tables, youth fishing pond, temporary restrooms and parking area.
Aeromodelers located East of Rock Springs, on I-80 turn at South Baxter Road exit then 31/2 miles east on the frontage road. 1 group picnic shelter, model airplane runway and temporary restrooms, Sweetwater Aeromodelers Club meets monthly at the White Mountain Library 700pm on the last Tuesday of the month or you can find them weather permitting most Saturday & some Sunday mornings at the field flying model airplanes.
Bicentennial Park on Highway 191 North in Eden, 4 miles South of Farson, 14 picnic tables, temporary restrooms and playground equipment.
Big Sandy Park located in Farson on Highway 28, 1 mile East of the intersection 191N&28. 4 group shelters, 1 restroom playground equipment, 2 horseshoe pitches, 1 softball field, 1 tennis court and Indoor Youth Activity Center which is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturdays evenings with a Youth Supervisor on hand.
All of these facilities are funded by the Sweetwater County Commissioners, overseen by a 7 member volunteer board of Directors. Charles Cook President, Justin Spicer Vice President, Dave Hanks Secretary/Treasurer, Dan McCarron member, Wayne Moses member, Bud Walker Member and Mike Wilkinson member. Managed by Executive Director Richard Long, who came on board in January 2001, Youth Supervisor, 5 Caretakers, Maintained by Maintenance Supervisor Don Murray and Summer Work crews.
