"Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach" Fort Lauderdale by Pavlik_NL

Fort Lauderdale is situated on the shores of the Atlantic with many inlets and canals crossing through it's suburbs. It seems that behind every bungalow or villa, there's a canal with at the little boardwalk at the end of each garden a majestic yaught or other type of (sailing)boat. This must be a place for the rich and famous, is what you think then. A few miles North however, you take back that statement. When you drive through the suburbs of West Palm Beach, passing one mansion after the other, surrounded by high walls or fences and enormous well kept gardens ... then you know that here these rich live. You can also notice it at a roadsign I have never seen before. A minimum speedlimit?!?!?!? Hmm, seems that indeed you can buy rights and bribe law in the States. Shocked I was when going just a few miles landinwards, we found people living in caravans and huts at the side of the road. They belonged to sugarkane-workers. How can so rich and so poor excist in such close proximity?
