What men does not have ... he wants. Likewise the Dutch people that have no mountains and now-a-days (global warming) less and less real winters. Missing out on snow and the fun that you can have with it, the Dutch seek this combination in the Alps, but also more nearby in the Belgian Ardennes, the German Eifel and (most snow-assured) the German Sauerland. This middle-mountainous regions are almost overrun by Dutch when it is notified that snow has fallen. With the Sauerland the millions of Germans from the Ruhrarea can be added to the millions of Dutch and so kilometres long trafficjams predict a busy wintersportweekend in Winterberg, Willingen (see also these pages) and ... in our case last time: Medebach.
