    • One of the unknown parks of Arnhem is at the Eastern border between the town and it's suburb Oosterbeek. Here is park Mariëndaal which holds the most romantic place in this neighborhood (maybe even the world). If you take the time to go there and walk around and you will find the secret of this park, you will surely agree in my statement. By the way, if you walk along the mansionhouse in this park, be so friendly to come by and ask for Paul Daniëls at the reception. It's my priviledge to work here!!!

    • In and around Arnhem there are many castles of which four are perfectly preserved. In Arnhem itself is the castle of Zijpendaal, in the same-named park. Just East of the town in the village of Rozendaal (valley of the Roses) the castle and wonderful gardens of Rosendael can be visited. South of Arnhem, in the village of Doornenburg (Burg of thorns, so maybe the castle of the famous fairytale?) the oldest castle will amaze you (900 a.D.). Just West of Arnhem on the landscapefrontier of riverlands and hills is castle Doorwerth (also the Hunting-museum). Around the castles are most of the time beautiful wanderpaths with coloured signs.

    • In a military home for (now very much aged) Dutch Indies veterans one can visit the museum that brings our former colony very close. Not only weapons, but also clothing, maquettes, maps, musical instruments and many many stories. Peculiar, small and historicaly quiet intresting.

    • Schaarsbergen, I have / will built a seperat page on this Northern neighborhood offers many beautiful estates within the forestry of the Veluwe. For example Warnsborn, that also offers an exclusive (cure) hotel and cosy small camping. Here one can walk for hours and hours through beautiful natural settings. It's also the best place to go to enjoy the autumn splendour in Arnhem.
