Gendt, within the furtile Over Betuwe

Who doesn't know Gent, one of Flanders most beautiful towns and a town with beautiful monuments and historic ... HEY ... HOLD IT ! ... STOP !!! This is not Gent in Belgium, this is Gendt with "DT" in the Dutch province Gelderland! Gendt that is a village pressed against the heavy dikes of the "Waal"-river, actually the main flow of the river Rhine in the Netherlands. Gendt is an agricultural centre that now-a-days specialised more and more on horticulture, as the amount of greenhouses is growing every year. A village that offers it's visitor magnificent riverland nature in the bed of the mighty river itself. Floadlands that are under water every year again and again. When you're interested in this unknown village, do look at my tips about it.

Village that has a warm bound with gooses

As the riverlands in the Betuwe are very popular as feeding grounds for the gooses that are going from North to South, Gendt has historically already a good relation with these birds that fly thousand miles over the European continent. This relation can be witnessed in the weapon of the manucipalty and a nice statue along the dike. In the yearly Carnaval that is celebrated here quite good, gooses always return in the picture.

just telling you about my surroundings

Gendt is not so much a touristic hotspot, but in these VT-pages I'ld like to give you an impression about my living surroundings, in which Gendt belongs as well.
