"Velp, the Eastern suburbs outside of... " a Velp Travel Page by Pavlik_NL

Direct to the East of Arnhem, the village of Velp is growing steadily as a kind of suburb of the Gelderland capitol. The village is completely independant, with an own cosy shopping street and some new industrial area's along the river IJssel. However, the quite unidentifiable village is completely overshaded by Arnhem itself, but also by pictoresk villages such as Rozendaal. Furthermore the industrial age (first half of the 20st century led to enormous uniformous neighborhoods that now are overwhelming the general view on Velp. The few nicer neighborhoods are often reckoned to be a part of the more rich Rozendaal. Here, North of the "Arnhemse Straatweg" some large mansions are situated in beautiful green suburbs.

Velp is also comressed in between the forests of the Veluwezoom (Rozendaal and Rheden) plus the riverbed of the IJssel. Direct South as well as West of the town the bouderies are made up by two highways, connecting together by the (in)famous junction "Velperbroek" circuit.
Velp however was a key to my education as I went here to the Titus Brandsma College to finish my Middle Economical and Administrative School (MEAO) the basis to proceed to the HEAO, which for many years was next door to the Titus College.
