Friesland offers an endless amount of routes for sailing adventures. Truely this is the province where you can often meet a white sail going through a green grass field. Everywhere there are canals and ditches, cutting the land up in a million pieces. Added the magnificent lakes and Fryslan is the sailing province number one. Numerous sailing rental locations see to it that everyone can enjoy this sportive holiday activities and one. Varying from wind surfing boards to the traditional Frisian "Skutsje", which is also used in the yearly sepcatcular "Skutsje-sil" races in which the local towns compete to be the fastest. Another great event in sailing is the "Sneek"-week, when the lake near this town is filled with ships, boats and everything else with a sail.

My sailing adventure here was with some colleagues and on a traditional Skutsje. We started in "Gaastmeer" and our destination was - as far as the wind could bring us. As there was not so much wind (good, we were all beginners in sailing) we ended up in the pictoresque Woudsend. About this place you can read in the tips.
