Wien am Donau, a lovely way to have a holiday | Vienna, as it shows itself to many of it's visitor |
Are you looking for a romantic place and are you yourself romantic in the oldfashioned way? Don't go to Paris - although this city is also great for lovers. Wien has it all (why in English it is suddenly Vienna, I don't know so I will stick to the real name). If you can dance, attend to a ball and taste the days of Mozart, Strauss and many other famous composer that lived here. A walk through the Austrian capitol will make you stop a numerous times as one magnificent building appears after the other. In the evening you should go - after a great dinner with "Riesling"wine in one of the Northwestern suburbs at the foot of the hills - to the Prater (with your girl/boyfriend) to make a spin on the Big Wheel. All the light shimmer, while the mighty Donau-river (some say "Danube") finds it's way through Wien. |
| Magnificent architecture of empirial times |
| | Cradle of Baroque, home of famous composers Vienna is a magnificent collection of architectural beauties throughout many many centuries. From early Romanesc and Classic styles to Bauhaus and HUndertwasser. Above all Baroque had it's glorydays in Vienna and the city can easily be called Baroque capitol of the world. Furthermore the city saw the light of several genious composers, with on the top of it's list Mozart and Strauss. Music always was a key art in the Austrian capitol and along came the dance that is even named after this town: the Vienna Wals! |
Vienna, for centuries capitol of (Eastern) Europe The Austrian capitol "Wien" now-a-days is somewhat misplaced as being the capitol of a mediocre to small European country, yet a city with millions of inbitants as well as a long and very rich history. One should in this not forget that Vienna used to be the capitol of an immens empire, stretching out over Central Europe from Tirol to the Black Sea coast of Romenia and from the Bohemian forests to the Adriatic Sea. Until the beginning of the 20st century of the Austrian-Hungarian double monarchie, the emperor held almost a quarter in Europe in his hands and Vienna was his capitol, therefore benifitted maximaly from the enormous countries recettes.
