Niederrhien airport near the village of Weeze in Germany at the border of the Netherlands used to be an old English airbase. After the airbase was closed a group of Dutch businessmen saw the opportunity to start a new airport for the surroundings and especially for cheap flights to various European destinations.

I'm looking at Weeze airport and surrounding destinations as it is now a RYANAIR hub... very good prices from UK / Ireland and south. Maybe with the cost savings I can stay at the fancy hotel in Maastricht for a night ;)
