Just a few minutes drive over the freeway from Reims will bring you in the centre of the Chamagne-region. Epernay can be called the capitol of this, maybe most famous, French wine district. The town itself is not that spectacular, but here is the "Avenue des Champagne" along which you find the most famous Champagne-houses of the world. Most of them offer tours through the extensive cellars under the town and explain about the exclusive making of the wine of all wines: Champagne. A drive through Epernays environment will show you the regular sloops full of wineyards. Here too many houses of Champagne can be visited and make sure you return home with at least a few bottles of Champagne.
