Nice, Nizza, Nikaia. This town has many names and that has everything to do with it's long and turbulent history. Being part of various empires, it took from the centuries the best and kept it within the cities bounderies. Various architectures, natural extremes, religions, richer and poorer times and an "exquise cuisine" are treasures kept within Nice, like in only few other towns in Europe. It's climatologic situations makes it also one of the best places to live on this planet. A warm sea, almost never frost or snow, and flora of "mediterranean" variety (the name itself is actually from this region!). But wintersporters do not cry ... only a two hours drive into the mountains brings you perfect skiing conditions.

Truely the one and only capitol of the Cote d'Azur

Nice stretches out many kilometres along the "Baie des Anges". Here the water has, (due to the current, the waves and the underground in the water) an amazing colour blue: "Azure". This colour is why the coast (in French "Cote") is called "Cote d'Azur" and nowhere it is prooven so clearly then here in the capitol of this region. Nice is the fifth city in France and holds around a million inhabitants (agglomaration).

From the old harbour, Nice spread over mountains

Nice is a town that has known a turbulent history and therefore it will show it's visitors many different characters. Modern quarters and ancient alleys. The historical places where Roman ruins are discovered, as well as the mondain boulevard where people try to be discovered. Deliscious food stalled out in dazzling colours on the old market, while huge grey planes lift off from the artificial island in the sea (Nice-Cote d'Azur-International Airport). Peaceful mountainvillages attached to the city, but still keeping their own identity and quite. A turbulent Carnaval with huge puppets and people going completely crazy.
Nice ... a town where everyone will find something of great interest.
