Puerto Nuevo (between TJ & Ensenado): Deep fried lobster anyone?

ohhhhh.... sooooo goooooood.

If you are driving to Rosorito or Ensenada from Tj/San Diego, you will pass a town called Puerto Nuevo. If you like lobster, this is the place to go. A friend told me they prepare their lobster, "Puerto Nuevo Style" (read: deep-fried). There are several joints that advertise P.N.Lobster, but there is only one restaurant with a line out the door, on a Sunday afternoon. The wait was about an hour, but then I’ve also been her Sunday evening without any wait. I don't remember the name, but as you are driving/walking down the main street (toward the ocean) it will be on a corner, on your left, in the center part of the tourist/shopping area. Can’t miss it.

Favorite Dish: For two Lobsters (w/o claws, but HUGE), 12 deep fried shrimp, 12 lemon butter shrimp, tortillas, beans and rice, and a table full of empty beer bottles cost about $60.00 USD.

This is a must.

around town: Tacorias - cheap and good

After a drunk night at the local bars, such as Pappas & Beers, or for a quick lunch, the best bet is to walk a block or two outside the main street and look for the tacorias. They are always open and good for some traditional tacos and tortas.

FYI, if you order a soda, it will come in a bottle. You will have to drink it there because they keep and collect all the empty bottles. (they also get mad at you if you break the bottle by dropping them on the ground… oooops)

Favorite Dish: the prices may very slightly, but one night a few of us ordered about 8 or 9 tacos and 3 sodas and the total was about $8 USD.

Comparison: least expensive

Directions: get off of the main strip, there are one ot two by the water and a BUNCH in the inner portion of town.

Price: less than US$10
