Waiting for our table to be set - Santa Barbara

Waiting for our table to be set

Brown Pelican: Eat while watching the dolphins play

This is a nice restaurant that sits in a little cove right on the beach. I’ve mainly gone here for breakfast and lunch followed by a walk on the beach or a little climb up the cliff behind the eatery.

One time I was sitting there with my family easting, and we saw three groups of dolphins. (would that be 3 pods?) They all congregated in the surf directly in front of the Pelican. They met and you could tell they were playing around and having a great time. After about 20 minutes, they disbanded. This is not an uncommon site in SB, I hope you can witness this as well.

Favorite Dish: For breakfast, our open-faced breakfast sandwich on foccacia and our fruit waffles. For lunch, our apple-wood smoked bacon sandwich.

Brophy Bros. (pic from www.santabarbaralive.com) - Santa Barbara

Brophy Bros. (pic from www.santabarbaralive.com)

Brophy's Bros. (brothers): Seafood

I happened to find Brophy’s my first time thru Santa Barbara when I was visiting colleges. It was one of the many things that left a good taste in my mouth about this place. I can’t say I ever regretted making my choice.

This is a fun place with a lively atmosphere. People sometimes dress up, but if you are wearing some sandals / flip-flops and an old t-shirt, you will fit right in.

Make sure you arrive early, there is a wait, and they don’t take reservation. Wait the extra time and sit outside, especially on a beautiful night in SB. Then afterwards you can take a walk out along the surf break.

Favorite Dish: Start off with some clams (Rockefeller or shooter) or the New England clam chowder than pick one of the daily fishes.
