Walk/Ride/Rollerblade down the strand (the strand is the long sidewalk along the beach) in Manhattan Beach. The picture below was taken in the middle of December. Summer or Winter, it is nice be on the stand and watch people play volleball or surf. There are two strands, one for walking (on the left) and one for riding/rollerblading (on the right). I have noticed that visitors are sometimes confused by the two separate uses of each of the strands. Please be aware, because you don't want to get run over by someone on a bike if you are walking on the bike strand. I have seen it happen.

ncfg Sun Sep 30, 2007 21:34 UTC Nice place to live in. I didn't know that Manhattan Beach is the birthplace of beach volleyball. In Portugal we have some great volleyball players. | BROOKS Thu Aug 23, 2007 03:41 UTC Enjoyed your Manhattan Beach page. | mceaeander Sun Apr 29, 2007 04:19 UTC Summer '74 as Kansas college junior came to MB to join my brother, med student at USC.
