This is a small, independently owned inn. It's up the hill only a few blocks from the beach. Many of their rooms have ocean views. The owner is named Hal and he's a really nice guy... he also owns the little breakfast place next door called "The Local Yolk".
Unique Qualities: It has a pool which is very unusual for Manhattan Beach, but I don't imagine that it gets much use because the beach is so close. Also, they have beach cruisers (bicycles) for you to use while you stay there. This is a great perk, because you can ride on the beach along the strand all the way down to redondo or up to marina del rey. I live near by and ride my bike all the time and i think it's one of the coolest things to do if you're visiting. But I must say, pushing the bike back up the hill takes some getting used to.

Since I live here, I've never stayed at this Marriott myself, but I've had friends stay there and I've visited the Marriott often. It is located just off Rosecrans in the business district of Manhattan Beach and El Segundo. There are stores and restaurants nearby (walking)including Bristol Farms Market, Houstons Restaurant, Johnny Rockets, Jamba Juice, Subway, etc. Starbucks is across Rosecrans and so is Flemings. The picture is showing the rear of the hotel and part of the golf course.
Unique Qualities: There is a small 9 hole golf course at the Marriott. It's a pitch and put, but it's fun and cheap. They have a pool, where you can sit and overlook the golf course. They have a tennis complex nearby where they play or used to play (i'm not sure if they moved the tourney to Carson... they've been talking about moving it) the women's WTA event. It's a large full service hotel. If you want a smaller Marriott chain hotel nearby, there is the Townplace Suites and the Spring Hill Suites both on Aviation. They are officially in Hawthorne but very close to the Marriott Manhattan Beach

This place is brand new and looks great. The location is perfect because it is walking distance to everything Manhattan Beach has to offer. It is in the new multipurpose center on the corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Valley Drive, called Metlox (which is named after the old pottery factory which used to be there). I'll update this as i learn more about it.

ncfg Sun Sep 30, 2007 21:34 UTC Nice place to live in. I didn't know that Manhattan Beach is the birthplace of beach volleyball.
