Panchimalco is a quaint little colonial village just minutes outside San Salvador, it's spanish mission style church is an excellent example of the colonial archtecture at the time (16th century). This town hosts a number of folkloric festivals and the palms procession in may, when all the town's people prepare huge palms filled with frangipane flowers. It provides for a good day trip from San Salvador as well as an opportunity to visit the park at Puerta del Diablo a rock formation with spectacular view s.
