Edna St. Vincent Millay
The railroad track is miles away,
And the day is loud with voices speaking,
Yet there isn’t a train goes by all day
But I hear its whistle shrieking.
All night there isn’t a train goes by,
Though the night is still for sleep and dreaming
But I see its cinders red on the sky,
And hear its engine steaming.
My heart is warm with the friends I make,
And better friends I’ll not be knowing,
Yet there isn’t a train I wouldn’t take,
No matter where it’s going.
About me
I live in Bydgoszcz ( central Poland ). I just graduated from univeristy. Now I both work and study. I love travelling. When I was a student I used to spend my vacations working abroad. Money I earned during the summer I spent travelling to different places in the fall .
What do I like?
I like travelling by trains, music, dancing, food I have never tried before, people I have never met before, sailing, sun, sea, animals ( especially horses, cats and dogs) and studing foreign languages ( Russian language is the biggest of my loves) and many other things.. :-)
Travel only with the equals or thy betters; if there are none, travel alone
the Dhammapada
I have checked it many times. And it is true. And there is one more thing that sounds very true to me:
I have found out that there ain't no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.
Mark Twain
I really believe it is better to travel alone than with someone you don't like. So sometimes I happen to travel alone (like when I went to US) but I always make some new friends then :-)
Most of my travels were inside of Europe. I love travelling so much that I capture any opportunity to go somewhere. I visited Germany ( with my college class ), France, Belgium ( with a priest from my church ), Czech Repablic. Then I was working in Philadelphia for four months and afterwords I was travelling through all US. As a student I took part in kind of students' exchange and went to St Petersburg in Russia. Last year I was working in London and got a chance to see a bit of UK. Thats all so far but I hope for more :-)
POLAND is a beautiful country with interesting culture and great history. It is definity a place you should visit some day. Everybody is welcome :-)
We have beutiful old cities, towns, great national parks and lots of places of interest - like castles and palaces ( about 700 of them), places of historical momory ( like concentration camps build by Nazis during II WW ) and many many other things you should see.
Sailing is one of the things I love :-) There are many lakes in Poland so lot of people sail. Especially Mazury region is popular - paradise for sailers :-)
But Mazury Region is not so close so usually I go to the lake that is closer to my town. It is big and really nice and peaceful. Sometimes you can sail without meeting anybody for a couple of days (which is healthy sometimes). In summer I spend lot of time in there, sometimes with friends, sometimes with my dog - oh i forgot to show you my dog ;-)
We have plenty of national parks in POLAND and each of them is different.
Some of them are mountains, some are at the seaside, some are lakes..but all of them are amazing.
This one here is Slowinski National Park. Its realy beautiful. I'm a beach person ( which doea'st mean I don't like mountains) so this Park seems a paradise to me :-)
here we go: that's him, my dog Kacper :-) Loves to swim so he is a perfect company when sailing. The only problem is that he loves birds too much ;-)
Most of tourist think that POLAND is just Cracow. In fact we have many cities that are very beautifull, like Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk!!!!, Warsaw. And many many more smaller towns which are worth seeing too. Like Torun that you can see at my POLANDpage.
As I said I am a beach person so moutains are not my stron side ;-) But still I have many friends who love mountains and spend every weekend in Tatra or Bieszczady Mountains and never get tired of it.
So what do we have in Poland..The southern part of Poland are mountains. We have Sudety Mountains , Tatra Mountains and Bieszczady Mountains.
Sudety Mountains ( you can see the pictures) are the oldest ones, not too high but good for climbing and walking.
Tatra Montains are very popular, full of people in winter, good place for skying. Tatra Mountains is a region where old Polish customs are still cultivated so you can see cloths and things you can't see anywhere else.
And finally Bieszczady Mountains. Such a calm place.. not too high, perfect for walking, beautiful sights...good place for those who need some loneliness..There are also some 200 years old little churches hidden in the mountains. If you find one you will be fascinated.
To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.
Aldous Huxley
One more thing
I am willing to make some friends, exchange opinions with people from all the world, and maybe have somebody as a guest here, in Poland :-) (of course if you consider being my guide when I happen to be in your country)
:-)
