Picton looked quite a pretty place as we came into the harbour from Wellington (and the weather was certainly 100% on the grey tempest we'd left in Wellington only 3 hours earlier).

Interestingly, about 3 days after we passed through, the massive NZ floods really hit, and Picton was partially under water and cut off for a time, and one of the ferry crossings was that rough that 3 Pokie (gambling) machines fell over and several cars were damaged in the cargo hold.
Glad we missed that!
I get seasick badly enough with swells, let alone huge waves!

• Pros:Pretty harbour, very nice entry to the South Island of New Zealand
• Cons:Mainly just seems to be the point where other things begin: trips, tours, etc
