The Grampians Things to Do
Sort by: Most Recent | Best Rated | Author's Order

Things To Do: Brambuk
  • Tip Rating:
  • Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre was built to represent the form of a Cockatoo bird with its wings outstretched, the totem of the Aboriginal tribe of this region.
Brambuk has many artefacts and great Aboriginal dot paintings on display (and some for sale), a great souvenir shop (selling all kinds of quality souvenirs including digeridoos) and an upper level restaurant where you can try unusual menu items, such as Crocodile Burgers or Kangaroo steak.
On the ground floor there is also a sound and light show telling a story of of the Aboriginal dreamtime about how the Grampians and their features were created by Bunjil.
It's great and entertaining for kids, and also good for adults if you want a basic introduction to Aboriginal mythology of the region.
The second photo shows the curved side roof.

    Things To Do: Waterfalls
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are several nice waterfalls inThe Grampians but I believe McKenzie falls is the largest. At the moment because of the drought, all will be dry, but in Winter/Spring there will be some water again.
The walking track to the base of the falls is nice, and has been recently re done to allow for wheelchair access most of the way.

Things To Do: The Pinnacle - Silent Street
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Pinnacle walk is one of the most popular in the park. It's listed as easy - moderate, though some parts are quite strenuous.
Even so, we saw several old people make it to the top, and energetic young children too.
This particular feature of the walk is called 'Silent Street'.

Things To Do: The Pinnacle - The Nerve Test
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Nerve Test is found at the top of the Pinnacle walk, and is so called because people have dared each other to walk out on this narrow ledge of rock, with a rather long drop below....our swiss friends Thomas and Michael wanted to try it, but fortunately were sensible and crawled out and back instead of trying to walk it.

Things To Do: The Pinnacle Walk
  • Tip Rating:
  • Allow 2 1/2 - 3 hours to do the Pinnacle walk.
You might be able to do it in less, but you may want to sit a while at the top and enjoy the views, see the 'Nerve Test' and look around, after you've come so far (walk length approx 3 km, I think)

Things To Do: Reaching the Pinnacle

  • When you finally reach the top of the Pinnacle...you'll be feeling a bit exhausted, like Thomas, Michael and Paul here...but it will be worth it. Sit a while at the lookout point and enjoy the views!

    Things To Do: Lookouts
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are some excellent lookout points in The Grampians...some you have to walk to to get the views, like from the Pinnacle, but there are others you can drive to and only have to walk a short distance.

    Things To Do: Wildflowers
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Grampians is an excellent place to see wildflowers, particularly in the spring and summer. The best months to see them are October - November. There is also a wildflower festival/display in the Halls Gap township for a couple of weeks during this time, which is well worth seeing, as you see examples of so many of the flowering plants which can be found throughout the park, some of which are found nowhere else in Victoria.

Great Grampian pages. I noticed VT has THE GRAMPIANS and GRAMPIANS in Victoria - are they one in the same?
