Melbourne (population 3.3 million) is undoubtedly Australia's most multicultural and diverse city. It is home to peoples of over 100 different nations. This multiculturalism is especially evident in many of its ethnically dominated suburbs, such as Chinatown in the city and also Doncaster and Templestowe with their large Chinese populations, Broadmeadows with its large Middle Eastern population and Carlton, affectionately nicknamed "Little Italy" with its wonderful pavement cafes and European atmosphere. These are just a few examples of what you can discover. Melbourne is well known for its many markets too, most notably the historic Queen Victoria market in the heart of the city, and there again you will notice the city's strong ethnic flavour. There are also numerous Sunday flea markets scattered throughout the suburbs. The huge variety of restaurants in almost every type of cuisine imaginable is another delightful reason to visit the city again and again and never run out of different restaurants and cafes to visit. Sporting facilities are also excellent. It is the home of the huge MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and the birthplace of Aussie Rules Football. |

| | Filled with history Melbourne may look very modern as you enter it and drive through, but if you look more carefully, you'll find so many beautiful old buildings sandwiched in between newer skyscrapers. |
