TRANSYLVANIA-LAND OF MY YOUTH Although I live now for many years in Bucharest,Transylvania will remain in my heart with all its preserved history,as it is the part of Romania where I spent my childhood and youth.Come to this part of my homeland, where history is still present by its several well preserved castles and fortresses, beautiful landscapes in some corners still untouched by destructiveness of civilisation. A region where many Immigrants coming from Germany came to settle centuries ago and influenced massively much of the the life there from architecture up to handicraft and their correct and disciplined way to work. Many towns in Transylvania have German names alltogether with Romanian ones(Brasov-Kronstadt;Sibiu-Hermannstadt;Risnov-Rosenau; Sebes-Muehlbach just to name a few).Etnic Germans left the country, few remained, but the remnants of their centuries old stay there remain. You will find this mix of different nationalities there, linked to a common history. I have not said anything about much publicized Dracula, which makes many think instantly of when talking about Transylvania.Be assured that Transylvania offers much more than just that Dracula legend. |
