New Metropolis great for kids, adults may be more impressed with the building's architecture itself, designed ny Renzo Piano. Use Museumboot, highly recommended especially for the budget conscious, even entitles you to save up to 50% on your museum tickets, and allows your canal sightseeing tour to last all day. You can hop off at 17 different stops along the canals and jump back on any other of the Museum boat's. (they pass by every 15 mins or so) Great if you want to see where all the museums are located so you can return to them later, too.

Nieuwendijk Area: die Port van Clive (Hotel)

Located on a busy street with a constant flow of pedestrians, trams and busses in the center. Though I didn't stay at this expensive hotel, its architecture was an impressive site and deserved a picture. Of course, that bus pulled in just as I snapped the picture.

Another site from the canal was this church with it's 3 chapels, known as 'the three brothers.' Sorry to say, I didn't step inside its doors after my canal tour, so maybe in '03 I'll have to return for an interior photo.

Strike a pose with the stars (sortof) in this museum, or simply admire its exterior architecture. These photos were taken moments before a rather large carnival-amusement ride was set up in front of Madame Tussaud's Museum for koniginnedag festivites.

Take a wine and cheese tour at night to see the other reflections of Amsterdam, a city that will entertain your senses at any hour of the day or night. The lights of Amsterdam were just beginning to sparkle in this picture, 9pm started a 2-hour tour of the canals and shouldn't be missed.

Oops, bad pic here. (wine induced flash) But....Ever hear the tale about a floating Chinese restaurant that almost didn't? Make a really bad error in design, invite 1000 diner's on board for your Grand Opening of the largest 'floating' restaurant, and learn about the fresh water canals of Amsterdam on your tour. Spoiler: Now seats appx. 800.
