Kaohsiung is the second largest city located in the southwestern part of Taiwan. It's also a harbor city with a population of 2 million people. It's a modern industrial city, so that means it's smuggy and polluted all the time. It's very hot (29-36 degrees Celsius) and humid in the summer; mild (14-25 C) and dry in the winter. The best season to visit is fall to spring. In another word, try not to come over in the summer. If you are from the North (where it snows in the winter), you might die of the humidity and burning heat if you intend to try your luck here in the summer. But it's not so bad, there's air conditioning indoors everywhere you go (better than the hellish heat stroke in London!). This picture shown was taken last year on Lantern Festive, which falls on the 15th of January on the lunar calendar. There's usually a big display of lanterns along the sides of the Love River where draws lots of visitors coming to check them out. As a local, I only saw it once in my life time, which was last year. Not too bad. Keep it up! |
