| Boston from the new courthouse |
Boston's a great place to live or visit, but you wouldn't want to drive here! Pictured here is Rowe's Wharf and the Financial District skyline from Boston's new courthouse. Boston's waterfront is the hottest developing area in town. Much of it is still under construction, but in a few more years, Newbury St and Charles St may take a back seat to Northern Ave and Congress St for swanky eateries & shops. Need a map of downtown? | The Arnold Arboretum, Boston |
| | Boston is a city of neighborhoods. Some are part of what I think of as Boston Proper, and others are towns that have been annexed by Boston. All of the neighborhoods have their own personalities. You can find out more about Boston's neighborhoods at this link: http://www.ci.boston.ma.us/neighborhoods/. I live in West Roxbury, which was annexed by Boston in 1874. West Roxbury is one of the towns straddled by the Arnold Arboretum, one of Boston's hidden jewels! Please see my Arnold Arboretum Travelogue. In addition to Boston's neighborhoods, my Boston pages cover things to see and do in neighboring cities such as Cambridge, Somerville and Brookline, since they are part of the Greater Boston area and also accessible by the T. |
Most of Boston and much of the surrounding towns are accessible by either subway lines or Commuter Rail. Boston's public transit system is known as "The T". The Red, Orange, Green, Blue subway lines - and now the new Silver Line - criss-cross the city and the commuter rail lines fan out north, south and west from North Station and South Station. Commuter Rail is by far the more comfortable and civilized ride, but it's more expensive and has fewer stops in town. It's the best way to travel into town if you're staying outside the city. Check out www.mbta.com for more information. | | | Waiting for the Red Line T |

Nice Boston pictures. I went to Anthony Pier 4 (hope its correct) for lunch many years ago. | Barbie2138 Sat Jan 27, 2007 16:11 UTC I've stayed at Morrison House twice now and couldn't be happier. Ron and Linde are super. She bakes something new for breakfast every morning. Yum! This place is a bargain for location and everything the hosts offer. They are truly wonderful people. | Pawtuxet Sat Nov 11, 2006 16:50 UTC Just spotted your neighborhood tip. Handy advice. Hope you find a spot you want to be in permenantly soon. |
