Sidewalk Village | The Sidewalk at Placencia |
Placencia is an odd little village at the southern tip of a peninsula that's about halfway between Dangriga and Punta Gorda. Before a driveable road was built on the peninsula, life in the village developed around the dock and what is now known as The Sidewalk - a paved walkway along the beach. So if you really want to see Placenia, you have to walk it. Handpainted signs along the walkway point the way to guest houses, bars, restaurants and tour companies along the walkway. Don't expect a clear path once you venture off the pavement, but if you follow the general direction of the sign, you'll probably find what you're looking for.

Paul2001 Fri Jan 18, 2008 00:46 UTC Thanks for the very helpful page. Your account of the theft was particularly useful. Sad to here that this happened. I will be in Belize next month and found your tips to be quite strong. | Bwana_Brown Thu Dec 8, 2005 02:39 UTC Great tips on your time in Placencia! That is excellent advice tho, thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays! | JetlagCity Sat Jul 10, 2004 00:22 UTC Thanks for the good info, we're considering Placentia for a future trip (those hammocks are calling my name!)
